The state-supported self-employment program in the Republic of Azerbaijan contributes to the growth of employment in the country. Research shows that the self-employment program leads to economic development on criteria such as reducing unemployment, increasing income, and improving entrepreneurial skills. In this article, the author analyzes the current situation with the implementation of the self-employment program and shows that the number of participants in the program increased 12 times in 2017-2020. Within the framework of the program, some social principles were given priority in the distribution of assets, and socially sensitive segments of the population were given priority, especially war veterans, families of martyrs and the disabled.
The author also examined the experiences of the countries where the self-employment program was implemented, such as Croatia, Moldova, Argentina, and Spain, and made recommendations regarding their practices in Azerbaijan.
